Located 30 minutes from both of Dubai’s international airports, Aloft Me’aisam isn’t as far out of the city as you would think. Located in Dubai Production city, this budget-friendly and funky hotel is just far enough to enjoy some downtime, and close enough for you to drive right back in. A branch of Marriot International, Aloft Hotels have been making significant inroads into the UAE hospitality scene. The Me’aisam property is Aloft’s second hotel in Dubai (the other one is on the Palm), and its fourth property in the UAE, with one each in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi.

Situated opposite City Centre Me’aisam, the place isn’t hard to find but is an expensive cab ride. If you plan to use the Dubai metro to get there, the nearest metro stations are Dubai Internet City station and the Jumeirah Lake Towers station.

The check-in lobby hits you with all of the colours and design elements that you come to expect from Aloft. In this area, there is a gourmet snack station, a billiards table and a running LED ticker display with the latest news. That is enough to keep you occupied for the few seconds that you wait to get the room key.

The room

The framed colourful sketches of Dubai’s landmarks is what grabs your attention as you walk in to the room. The room stands true to Aloft’s design elements, and is practical for today’s traveller, with a workstation, decent wardrobe space, a small coffee station and other essentials. The bath area has a walk in shower and good-quality amenities as well. However, you might have to request separately for a dental kit or other specific toiletries that you need.

What to do

Given that the property is located in Me’aisam, there isn’t much to do within walking distance, other than shop at City centre. For tourists visiting Dubai, it is easily accessible by road when visiting attractions such as the Mall of the Emirates, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Parks and Resorts, Miracle Gardens and more.

There is a family-friendly pool and lounge area in the property. The hotel also has a fitness centre. For those who are on a work or business trip, Aloft Me’aisam has a Tactic meeting space equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and free WiFi.

Where to eat

Their signature W XYZ Bar and Re:mix Lounge, which extends into an outdoor space called the Backyard, is popular with residents in the area, especially during the weekends. While we were there, the place was packed, with guests enjoying the food and the outdoor football game screenings.

The food menu doesn’t have too many options in main courses if you plan to stay more than two nights. However, some of them are good for repeat orders. The signature W XYZ burger and their bespoke pizzas are a definite must-try for guests. The hotel also offers Re:fuel — a one-stop gourmet snack area and City Limits, an all-day cafe kitchen.

What we recommend

Spend a couple of hours enjoying the pool. The music, the vibes and the pool make for a relaxing time.
