The first trailer for Crazy Rich Asians is here and it’s as magnificent as you would expect from the movie’s title.

Released on Monday, it introduces Constance Wu of Fresh Off the Boat as Rachel Chu — a woman who agrees to finally meet her boyfriend’s family only to discover exactly why he hasn’t been the most forthcoming when it comes to sharing details about them. Starring opposite Wu is Henry Golding as boyfriend Nick Young.

“So your family is rich?” Rachel asks during the couple’s first-class flight to Singapore, which she knows should be beyond their means.

“We’re comfortable,” Nick replies.

“That’s exactly what a super-rich person would say,” Rachel counters.

Yes. Yes it is. Like what the son of the biggest developers in Singapore would say.

The trailer then follows Rachel as she is faced with endless extravagance and the unexpected perils of dating the rich and famous Nick, including meeting his disapproving mother.

Based on the novel by Kevin Kwan, the film boasts an all-star, all-Asian cast including Gemma Chan, Lisa Lu, Awkwafina, Ken Jeong and Michelle Yeoh. Crazy Rich Asians is the first major Hollywood film to feature an all-Asian cast since Joy Luck Club was released in 1993.

Directed by Jon M. Chu, Crazy Rich Asians is scheduled for an August release in the US.
