New Delhi: The premier All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Monday referred Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav back to Ranchi hospital stating that he was now stable, even as the former Bihar chief minister alleged a “political conspiracy” behind his discharge.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal president also wrote to the institute’s director, asking him to continue his treatment at the facility till he recovers fully.

“Mr Lalu Prasad Yadav was referred to AIIMS for management of his acute medical condition. He has improved significantly and is being referred back to Ranchi Medical College for management of his chronic issues. He is currently stable and is fit to travel,” AIIMS said in a statement.

Yadav, who was admitted to AIIMS on March 29, is not willing to undergo treatment in Jharkhand capital Ranchi where he is serving a jail sentence for corruption.

The RJD chief requested the hospital administration to let him stay in the hospital for further treatment.

“I believe I am going to be shifted from AIIMS soon. I don’t want to be shifted back to Ranchi hospital, as that hospital is not properly equipped to treat my ailments,” he said.

Yadav, 69, is suffering from blood pressure, diabetes and high creatinine levels.

After he was handed over the discharge slip, he said it was a “political conspiracy” to throw him out of the hospital.

“This is unjust, it is a political conspiracy to deteriorate my health. I am being shifted to a place where there are no facilities. It is a tough time, but I will face it,” he told Gulf News after leaving the hospital.

Former Chief Minister (CM) of Bihar Yadav further said that AIIMS should be held responsible in case his health deteriorated.

“If my life is threatened by this decision, then AIIMS will be held responsible,” he added.

On Sunday, Yadav had expressed fears that he would be “discharged in hurry” from AIIMS.

“I have been told that the hospital is preparing for my chutti (release). My health has not really improved. My back hurts and I feel dizzy. I have fallen in the bathroom several times. My blood pressure and sugar keep shooting up,” he had said in a statement.

On Monday, he said that every citizen had the right to treatment that satisfied him.

“A doctor is like god and can’t buckle under pressure. I don’t know under what pressure has this decision been taken,” he said while he was being wheelchaired out of the hospital.

Former Bihar Deputy CM and Yadav’s son Tejashwi Yadav said the decision to shift his father from AIIMS to Ranchi Hospital has been taken in haste.

“The decision to shift Laluji from AIIMS to Ranchi Hospital has been taken in haste. AIIMS is much better and I wonder why this decision has been taken in the first place. Only AIIMS authorities can reveal the reason behind the sudden transfer of Laluji,” he said.

RJD Member of Parliament (MP) Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav said AIIMS discharged Yadav under the pressure of central agencies like Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

“It seems there is a conspiracy to murder Lalu Prasad Yadav. Why they are discharging him when he is not fit yet. Only AIIMS authorities can reveal the reason behind the sudden transfer. But there seems to be pressure from central agencies such as CBI,” Narayan said.

Meanwhile, Congress president Rahul Gandhi met RJD chief Yadav at AIIMS on Monday. In a 30-minute meeting, Gandhi enquired about the Bihar leader’s health.

Yadav has been convicted and jailed in four fodder scam cases. He and his family, including wife Rabri Devi, sons Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav, and daughter Misa Bharti have has been charged in several other corruption cases.

He is lodged in Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Central Jail since December 23.

He was admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science in Ranchi on March 17 after he complained of uneasiness at Birsa Munda jail.
