Beirut: Lebanese soldiers on Friday freed four Syrian soldiers who had been captured earlier by rebels inside the violence-ridden country.

A security source said the soldiers were seized at Talaat Al Arfit, inside Syrian territory, by three Syrians and a Lebanese and taken to Arsal, a Sunni area in Lebanon’s Beqaa.

The source did not say whether those who captured the Syrians were arrested.

Syrian rebels and their sympathisers often carry out operations inside Syria before crossing back over the porous border into Lebanon.
