Most of Greenland
We didn’t have to find a particular city in Greenland to pick, as many of the cities of this northern country have no sun rise for many days in December and January.
Alert, Canada
Alert, Nunavut is considered the northernmost inhabited community on earth and they will have no sun rise today and for quite some time into winter.
Norilsk, Siberia
Norilsk is the northernmost city in the world with continuous night of up to 6 weeks every year. It is also one of the most polluted cities in the world owing to mining, smelting and metallurgy industries.
Svalbard, Norway
Svalbard is a Norwegian archipelago between mainland Norway and the North Pole with around 2,500 people inhabiting the islands. It is considered an Artic fairy tale, complete with Northern Lights in winter and the ‘midnight sun’ all through summer.
Barrow or Utqiaġvik, USA
It is the 11th northernmost public community in the world and the northernmost city in the United States. The sun usually sets in November every year, not to rise again until late January, around 65 days later.
