Three of the Arab world’s most prominent musical superstars Amr Diab, Hussain Al Jassmi and Elissa opened the first of the Yasalam After-Race Concerts at du Arena, Yas Island with an Arab music showcase on Thursday in the capital. The concert, held on sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, was specially for race ticket holders.

Diab, the biggest selling Arab recording artist of all time, topped the bill with his classic hits including Tamally Maak and Amarain while award-winning Emirati artist Al Jassmi performed in front of his home crowd with his crowd-pleasing songs such as Mata Mata and Faqedik and three-time world music award winner Lebanese superstar Elissa impressed the capacity crowd with As3Ad Wa7Da and Fi Ayounok.

Friday night saw international superstar Jay Z take the stage, while British group Muse headline on Saturday night followed by legendary electro band Depeche Mode, who will close the final night on Sunday.

Meanwhile at the free Beats on the Beach Festival at the Corniche, Filipino music icon, Mr Pure Energy Gary Valenciano teamed up with the Philippines’ Ultimate Performer Vina Morales to headline the first ever Filipino night, playing to a crowd of over 30,000 on Thursday.

Friday saw rap legend Ludacris along with Ciara, Arab Idol winner Mohammad Assaf and runner-up Salma Rachid. Ludacris and Ciara also performed at the brand new 01NE night club on Yas Island on Thursday. Tonight, it will be the turn of Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston and English singer-songwriter Labrinth to wow the crowds at Beats on the Beach at Al Sahil beach, along with Dubai-based bands Jay Wud and Chronicles of Khan.
