Huda Kattan links Meghan and Harry’s donation exit to Palestine stance
Dubai: Beauty mogul Huda Kattan has publicly condemned Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after reports emerged that their Archewell Foundation rescinded a $55,000 donation (Dh200,000) to the Muslim Women’s Coalition (MWC), allegedly due to the pro-Palestinian views of the organisation’s president, Janan Najeeb.
Reacting to the news, the Iraqi-American entrepreneur and founder of Huda Beauty posted a blunt statement on social media: “So disgusting.”
The backlash follows a report by The Intercept that detailed how the Sussexes backed out of the pledged support upon learning of Najeeb’s vocal stance on Palestinian human rights.
Najeeb, who has long advocated for global social justice, responded firmly:
“I will not apologise for defending human rights or rejecting the dehumanisation of any people, including the Palestinians.”
She called Archewell’s decision emblematic of a larger issue:
“It is regrettable that a donor like Archewell has withdrawn so quickly. This is unfortunately not a surprise; it reflects what we are seeing nationally.”
The controversy has sparked a broader conversation about censorship, philanthropy, and the silencing of pro-Palestinian voices—especially within high-profile institutions concerned about political backlash.
