The couple are parents to a son, now.
How many times have we almost met?
That line from Yoon Se-ri in Crash Landing On You turned out to be on-brand for the actors too. Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin’s paths crisscrossed for years before love finally crash-landed.
In 2011, Ye-jin made a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo in Secret Garden, which starred, you guessed it—Hyun Bin. Did they meet? No. Her scene was with Lee Phillip.
Fast forward to 2014: They shared a moment in the same space. At the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PIFAN), both were honored with the Producer’s Choice Award. Seated side by side, sharing stage time.
The Negotiation era
Their first official project together came in 2017 with The Negotiation. The thriller had them in dramatic setups, but off-screen, the vibe was all playful bickering, Instagram cameos, and fun chemistry. Ironically, in the mere seconds they shared on-screen—most of the film had Ye-jin negotiating with Hyun Bin remotely during a hostage crisis—sparks still flew. The chemistry was unmistakable.
Ye-jin posted behind-the-scenes clips of their lighthearted moments. Fans noticed. The BinJin ship had officially set sail and it picked up speed when the film crossed the million-viewer mark just a week after its 2018 release. To celebrate, they rang in Chuseok (aka Korean Thanksgiving) together.

Crash Landing On You—where fiction and fate collide
After The Negotiation, Hyun Bin told Esquire Korea in 2019 that he hoped to work with Ye-jin again, or rather he poetically said, that he "wished to breath the same air as her."
Now, that's manifestation. Later that year, they reunited on-screen for Crash Landing On You, written by Park Ji-eun and inspired by a real 2008 incident of a South Korean actress getting stranded in North Korean waters. The show shot to international fame.
Naturally, dating rumours flared up like a second plot twist. By New Year’s Day 2021, Dispatch dropped the bomb: BinJin was real. Both their agencies confirmed it: Yes, they started dating in March 2020.
Son Ye-jin makes it Instagram official
While agencies were giving press statements, Ye-ji took to Instagram with a more poetic vibe. She posted a bouquet pic with a caption that melted hearts everywhere: she was thankful to have “met a good person” and vowed to “tend (to the relationship) with care.”
From couple goals to wedding bells
And then came the next chapter: BinJin 2.0. On February 10, 2022, both stars announced their engagement. That same day, Ye-jin posted a photo of a tiny wedding dress with the caption: “I found someone to spend the rest of my life with. Yes… it’s him.”
One month later, it was official. Their agencies released stunning wedding photos and said: “Actors Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin are holding their wedding ceremony today, taking their first step as a married couple.”
And it’s 2025, and both of them are parents to a son.
