And now we know what SS Rajamouli’s upcoming time-travel film is called. The filmmaker unveiled the title – Varranasi – alongside a teaser that showed lead actor Mahesh Babu’s look for the movie.

The title was dropped at an event in Hyderabad, India on Saturday evening that was also attended by the movie’s cast. At the launch were Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, music composer MM Keeravaani, and Shruti Haasan.

The movie is expected to release in 2027, yet its already making waves. No date has been slotted for the drop and most details of the movie are being kept under wraps.

The Telugu action epic will see Mahesh Babu playing Rudhra, Priyanka Chopra as Mandakini, and Prithviraj Sukumaran as Kumbha.

The budget is reportedly huge but the makers are keeping mum about exact figures. When the teaser was dropped, it was posted with the caption: "Presenting Mahesh Babu as Rudhra in #Varanasi On the rise To the world (sic)."

SS Rajamouli is known for his success with epics such as Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), and RRR (2022).
