Directed by Ayan Mukerji, sequel to 2019 blockbuster will release globally on August 14
The battle just got personal — and more powerful.
The teaser for War 2 is finally out, and it packs more heat, heart, and hair-raising stunts than its predecessor ever managed.
Hrithik Roshan is back as the brooding Kabir, but this time, he’s not just facing internal betrayal — he’s going head-to-head with a formidable new villain, played by NTR Jr, who is in top, terrifying form. The movie is scheduled to release on August 14th in UAE cinemas, ahead of Indian Independence Day.
Yes, the brawn is back, but this time it comes with brains — and menace. There's no denying that Hrithik is spectacular at action. He doesn't disappoint in the teaser.
We also get a blink-and-you-miss-it glimpse of Kiara Advani, who seems to be playing a femme fatale. The teaser hints at a high-stakes global manhunt, larger-than-life action, and a Kabir who seems even more emotionally unhinged — and lethal — than before.
Let’s not forget: the original War (2019), directed by Siddharth Anand, may have been a visual spectacle, but it lacked substance. As our Gulf News review bluntly put it, “What story? What spoilers?” — calling the film “a battle of the brawny boys with questionable brains.”
While Hrithik Roshan delivered swagger and slow-motion struts with style, even his smouldering charisma couldn’t save the plot from taking a nose dive. Having said that watching Hrithik perform stunts was like brawny poetry in motion.
But War 2 looks determined to course-correct.
With Ayan Mukerji now at the helm, this sequel seems tighter, moodier, and far more grounded in character conflict. And having NTR Jr as the antagonist? Inspired. The man oozes intensity in every frame, and his face-off with Roshan already has fan theories flying.
If the teaser is anything to go by, War 2 might finally give us what the first one promised: a real, emotionally charged showdown — not just a glossy gym-flex masquerading as a plot.
Bring on the chaos. This time, the battle looks worth watching.
