The list of Bollywood romances filmed in the UAE continues to grow. After Happy New Year and Bang Bang!, it’s the turn of director Mohit Suri to film his latest romance in this region. He will begin shooting his romance Humari Adhuri Kahaani featuring Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan and Rajkumar Rao on Wednesday and will remain here for over three weeks.
“I have a character in my film who owns hotels around the world ... It’s not a rustic love story but will show the opulence of five-star hotels, flashy cars and the glitz that represent the modernisation of today ... Which other place is better than Dubai and Abu Dhabi?,” said Suri in an interview with tabloid!.
He is planning to film major portions of his love story at Dubai’s popular landmarks including the Miracle Garden in Dubai, the Dubai Marina neighbourhood and the fountains in Downtown Dubai, before moving onto Cape Town.
“But I felt that some movies only show skyscrapers, shopping malls alone ... But I want to capture the cultural part of this region. There’s the dhow boats, the souqs, the Miracle Garden ... I want to show the real Dubai,” said Suri.
Humari Adhuri Kahaani, written by director Mahesh Bhatt, reunites Balan and Hashmi after their comedy Ghanchakkar. Watch this space for more.
