With Charlie Sheen’s Torpedo of Truth Tour mired in the dark depressing waters of failure, a tidal wave of interest has washed over his former gig, with the announcement that Ashton Kutcher will be joining the cast of Two and a Half Men.

Kutcher, who recently starred in the true life story Dude, Where’s My Career? announced his excitement over the now official deal with CBS Television: "I can't replace Charlie Sheen," Kutcher said, "but I'm going to work my ass off to entertain the hell out of people!"

Former Two and a Half Men cast contender Hugh Grant passed on the opportunity, citing ‘creative differences’ a euphemism that might refer either to financial impasse or, using our imagination here, a row with show runner Chuck Lorre who (clearly a model of professionalism himself) Sheen has excoriated in the press.

Whether you credit Sheen’s picture of Lorre or not, the man has a track record of producing extremely profitable sitcoms, and the question on everyone’s mind is whether or not the rebooted show can find success with the former host of Punk’d. What say you, e+ followers? Can Kutcher’s air brain act replace Sheen’s bad boy shtick?
