Dubai: Owen Cooper, the 15-year-old who gained popularity overnight for his role as Jaime Miller in the hit series Adolescence, has just started his journey in the industry and has already bagged not one, but two major projects.

The Adolescence star confirmed his role as young Heathcliff in the long-awaited Emerald Fennell’s adaption of Wuthering Heights. He has also been cast in a romantic comedy-drama titled Film Club, set to release this year.

Directed by Emerald Fennell, who previously directed Saltburn and Promising Young Woman, the movie will also star Margot Robbie as Cathy and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff.

Cooper shot to fame after his performance in Adolescence, where he played Jamie, a 13-year-old who was accused of murdering his classmate. Filmed in a one-shot style, the four episodes series, is said to be one of the greatest television shows ever made by critics and netizens alike, on social media.

Speaking to Variety in an interview regarding his role as young Heathcliff, Cooper said, “It’s been going really well. I’ve really enjoyed it. Obviously it’s not one-shot anymore! So I’m getting used to that. But it’s been amazing. Emerald’s lovely.”

He also revealed that he got this role because of his co-star and co-writer of the show (Adolescence), Stephen Graham, who recommended his agent to Cooper.

“So Maddi came and watched a bit of episode 1, and I got Wuthering Heights,” he added.

Adolescence, directed by Philip Baratini is also in talks of possibly winning several awards during award season, with netizens on social media saying Owen Cooper is sure to win several awards for his role.

According to reports it was also revealed that Adolescence was Cooper’s first ever role, and that the third episode was actually the first episode to be shot. Making it the first time Cooper was ever on a set.

Cooper is also set to star alongside Amiee Lou Wood (The White Lotus) and Ralph Davis (House of the Dragon), in the upcoming romantic comedy-drama Film Club, and Cooper has reportedly completed filming his part.
