Manny's not giving up
Boxing champ Manny Pacquiao is deep in training for his next fight, against Joshua Clottey.
During a brief break, however, he met Hollywood actor Steven Seagal over dinner in Beverly Hills. The two are said to be contemplating producing a movie together.
Pacquiao, who may be successful in his boxing career but failed considerably as a producer-actor in his last two films, was also in talks with Sylvester Stallone a couple of months ago.
His advisers say all these movie talks will have to wait until after the fight and the elections in the Philippines, where Pacquiao is running for a congressional seat in his hometown.
Maricel's moving on up
Maricel Soriano has finally broken her silence about her transfer to TV5. A former ABS CBN talent, Soriano moved to a new network, admitting she hasn't worked in "years".
It will be recalled Soriano also complained about the production system in her former home studio.
With TV5, Soriano will be doing a drama anthology and one of the episodes will feature her longtime friend Roderick Paulate, with whom Soriano has made a number of hit movies.
She is also set to appear as a guest judge on a new GMA 7 programme. "[I'm] inspired and moving on to new challenges," she said about her latest career move.
Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid have denied rumours they are leaving GMA 7 in favour of TV5.
The couple made it clear they will stay with their home studio. Stories of their "impending" transfer circulated after Velasquez has not been appearing on her regular Sunday show, SOP, citing health reasons, while she is able to film a movie.
Sources close to Asia's Songbird say she is no longer happy with the show. Reports that Alcasid had also met with the management to express his displeasure with the changes on the show have also been fuelling the rumours.
