Abu Dhabi: Alicia Keys, Jay Kay, Lewis Hamilton, Sir Richard Branson and Sir David Frost will arrive in Abu Dhabi for an exclusive star-studded ball on the sidelines of the Formula 1 next month.

The Grand Prix Ball Abu Dhabi, organized by Global Event Management, will take place on October 31st - the night before the big race opening.

Dame Shirley Bassey is also confirmed as a guest at the event.

At a press conference Wednesday, Global Event Management CEO James Magee said the ball would be similar to the one which takes place annually in Monaco and at Silverstone in the UK.

There’s a strict limit of just 600 tickets, which are mostly being offered to corporate partners and are up for grabs at Dh25,000 per table.

In conjunction with Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, the ball is a charity event in aid of fresh2o, a global campaign which helps supply fresh, clean and safe water to third world countries around the world. Keira Knightley, Lilly Cole, Natalie Imbruglia, Kelly Brook, Will Smith and Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay are all ambassadors for fresh2o and organisers say they hope to see a few campaign faces at the event.

During the Grand Prix Ball Abu Dhabi, which is not affiliated with the organisers of Formula One, a charity auction will take place giving away a replica of David and Victoria Beckham’s home theatre system worth over Dh500,000.

“Dame Shirley has verbally agreed to generously waive her appearance fee to headline this exclusive event” said Mcgee.

The voice behind many of the James Bond movie hit scores and one of Britain’s most successful artist to date, the singer is expected to arrive in the capital fresh on the heels of her only full live performance this year at the BBC’s Electric Proms on October 23rd.

At the ball, Bassey is expected to be supported by the Gypsy Kings and operatic tenor Jean Luc Viala, who has performed with Pavarotti.

To book a 10 person table visit geventm.com or call 04-3810549. Tables cost Dh25,000, but some smaller bookings will be considered.
