Actor Song Young Kyu, known for his memorable role as Chief Choi in the hit film Extreme Job, has passed away at the age of 52.

On the morning of August 4, authorities from Yongin Dongbu Police Station in Gyeonggi province confirmed that Song was found deceased inside a car at a residential complex in Yongin, Gyeonggi province, around 8 am. KST. An acquaintance discovered his body and promptly alerted the police. Officials reported no evidence of foul play, and no suicide note was found at the scene.

The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Song Young Kyu’s death. They are conducting interviews with his family and are considering an autopsy to determine the cause.

Earlier this year, on June 19, Song was involved in a DIU incident where he drove approximately five kilometers under the influence in his hometown of Yongin. He was subsequently referred to the prosecution.

The incident became public about a month later, leading Song Young Kyu to step down from his role in the stage production Shakespeare In Love. Additionally, the productions The Defects and The Winning Try announced plans to minimise his scenes in their releases.
