Vijay Sethupathi dons a khaki uniform

After the critically acclaimed Tamil film Visaranai comes another cop story: Sethupathi.

The trailer shows law enforcers in good light, however. Looking dapper is none other than Vijay Sethupathi playing a cop, Sethupathi. You heard it right, that’s the name of his character in this action thriller.

“It’s not just about the cases this cop is investigating, though we have several scenes portraying events happening at a police station; the film also dwells on the cop’s family,” says director S.U. Arun Kumar.

Malayalam actress Remya Nambeesan plays Sethupathi’s wife and the mother of their two children. This is her second film with Sethupathi, after Pizza.

“I have tried a new style of narration and made the film realistically,” added Kumar.

Tamil writer Vela Ramamoorthy plays the antagonist. Cinematography is by B. Dinesh Krishnan. Nivas K. Prasanna has scored music and Shan Sutharshan is the producer.

Sethupathi comes with great expectations since it follows Kumar’s acclaimed debut film, Pannaiyarum Padminiyum. In this cute love story about a car, Sethupathi was one of the leads, a car driver. Pannaiyarum Padminiyum raced into the audience’s hearts.
