Tamil film wins at Busan International Film Festival

Debutant filmmaker Hari Viswanath won the Audience Award at the recently concluded Busan International Film Festival for his first Tamil feature film, Radiopetti, (Radio set).

As the name suggests a radio set occupies centre stage in this story about an elderly man who clings to his radio that harks back to his younger days.

What happens when he is denied this little pleasure?

Radiopetti features stage artiste Lakshmanan in the lead. The supporting cast includes Shobana Mohan, Ramajujam, Nivas Adityan and Ula.

Produced by Harry Toonz Studio Radiopetti’s waves clearly reached the audience’s hearts with its moving tale. British composer, Richard Ford wrote the score. Saravanan Natrajan is the cinematographer.

Viswanath, a Chennai-based director earlier directed two shorts, Idukkan (Sufferings), and Pesum Virus. Both premiered at Cannes in 2012 and 2013. Idukkan won Best Short at the Norway Tamil film festival.

Stay tuned for more on Radiopetti.
