She became a hero for millions when she danced with a Jaipur foot (rubber-based prosthetic leg) and also plunged into acting. Veteran actress-dancer Sudha Chandran says she considers it the “biggest honour” when someone looks up to her as a “role model”.

Chandran, an accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer, pursued her passion for dance after losing a leg early on in life. She then went on to act in films, getting critical acclaim for her performance in the Telugu film Mayuri which was based on her own life.

“I think when people look upon somebody as a role model it is the biggest honour. I will never regret when I leave this world. I believe I have come for a purpose and at a very young age I have fulfilled that purpose,” said Chandran.

She added: “So even when I am not around for many many generations, I will continue to motivate a lot of people... Wherever my soul would be, it will give me a lot of satisfaction that people will be talking about me and following me in their life.”

The actress has acted in TV dramas such as Shastri Sisters and Kaisa Yeh Ishq Hai... Ajab Sa Risk Hai in the past few years.

She raised the bar of the small screen vamp as Ramola Sikand in Kaahin Kissii Roz.

She made a comeback to television last year with Colors’ finite series Naagin.
