‘Irumbu Thirai’ explores cyber crime

In today’s information age, a thief does not break into houses; his key lies among the data of information people share online.

Debutant director P.S. Mithran’s Tamil film Irumbu Thirai talks about cyber crime that threatens our lives today.

Mithran conceived the story in 2012 after a friend was robbed of money through an online scam.

“Today at the push of a button, we do many things from the confines of our home but the same button can be used by another to rob us,” Mithran said.

Vishal plays a soldier while Samantha Akkineni plays his onscreen lover. Watch out for Arjun as the antagonist.

Irumbu Thirai, produced by Vishal Film Factory, releases in the UAE on May 10.
