Indian weightlifter Karnam Malleswari’s biopic in the making

The story of Karnam Malleswari, India’s first woman weightlifter to win in the Olympics, has inspired many.

Now, a biopic is being planned in three languages — Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The story of a young woman’s journey who lifted the nation is being written by veteran Telugu director Kona Venkat and will be directed by Sanjana Reddy.

MVV Satyanarayana and Kona Venkat are producing the film. The cast and crew is being finalised.
