He raised the bar with his portrayal of Victor in Yennai Arindhal, but Tamil actor Arun Vijay says he can’t do every film that comes his way.

But there is a lot to look out for in his first Telugu film, Bruce Lee - The Fighter, he said.

Directed by Srinu Vaitla, Arun Vijay plays the antagonist in this commercial entertainer featuring Ram Charan in the lead. Charan plays a stunt man, known as Bruce Lee. Rakul Preet Singh is paired opposite him as Rhea, a graphic designer, who is creating a video game woven around Charan’s character.

“My character Deepak Raj is a filthy rich businessman and I sport a classy look,” said Arun Vijay. Raj and Bruce Lee get into a conflict and as the title indicates, there is a lot of action.

“While this role was not as difficult as Victor, it helped me grow as an actor. Every time Raj appears on screen, it will get exciting for viewers, similar to an edge-of-the-seat thriller,” said the son of actor Vijayakumar.

“This a family drama with oodles of sentiment.”

An adventure junkie, Arun Vijay is recovering from a knee injury after sky-diving in Malaysia. He will next make his foray into Kannada cinema with Chakravyuha, to be helmed by Tamil director Saravanan.

“Puneeth Rajkumar is playing the lead and I am looking forward to exploring another new language in the south,” said Arun Vijay.

He’s also working on a film with Gautham Menon.

Bruce Lee - The Fighter is a bilingual film in Tamil and Telugu. The supporting cast includes Kirti Kharbanda, Amitash Pradhan and Sampath Raj. Music is scored by S. Thaman. Manoj Paramahamsa has handled the cinematography.

Bruce Lee - The Fighter releases on October 16 in the UAE.
