Aamir Khan has had a challenging few years, but Sitaare Zameen Par marks a strong comeback. Despite receiving mixed to negative reviews, the film has continued to mint money. After a strong resurgence in its fourth week with a massive 177.78% jump in collections on July 12, the sports drama Sitaare Zameen Par pulled in Rs 2.84 crore net on its fourth Sunday (Day 24).

According to film industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 5.34 crore net over the fourth weekend alone. With this, the R.S. Prasanna directorial has amassed Rs160.59 crore net at the domestic box office over its 24-day theatrical run. Sitaare Zameen Par has become Aamir Khan’s fifth highest-grossing film to date, and it's now just ₹50 crore net away from surpassing the lifetime collection of 3 Idiots. For lead actress Genelia Deshmukh, the film marks a career milestone, emerging as her highest-grossing project since Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na.

Aamir Khan’s bold decision to skip an OTT release seems to have paid off. The actor-producer was clear from the start: Sitaare Zameen Par would be a theatrical-only experience—no post-release streaming, no “watch later” option. That gamble helped build a sense of urgency among viewers, leading to strong weekend surges, packed cinema halls, and sustained buzz.

The result: A global box office collection exceeding Rs 2.17 billion in just over two weeks.

There’s no doubt—it’s a hit. Produced by Aamir Khan Productions on a reported budget of Rs900 million, the film has already covered its cost through Indian theatrical earnings alone. During its third weekend, it posted an impressive 140% jump in Saturday collections—a rare feat that points to powerful word-of-mouth and growing public interest. The spiritual successor to Taare Zameen Par has grossed an impressive Rs 242.50 crore worldwide in just 23 days, including ₹54 crore from the overseas market.

Sitaare Zameen Par tells the story of Gulshan, a man tasked with coaching ten neurodivergent adults as part of his court-mandated community service. Each of the characters brings a unique personality to the screen—Sunil (Ashish Pendse), Satbir (Aroush Datta), Lotus (Aayush Bhansali), Sharma Ji (Rishi Shahani), Guddu (GopiKrishnan K Verma), Raju (Rishabh Jain), Bantu (Vedant Sharma), Golu (Simran Mangeshkar), Kareem (Samvit Desai), and Hargovind (Naman Misra).

Directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, with Ravi Bhagchandka as co-producer, the film also features Genelia Deshmukh, Dolly Ahluwalia, and Brijendra Kala in key roles. Sitaare Zameen Par hit theatres on June 20.
