Showbiz Tsismis: Carla Abellana, Paulo Avelino and LJ Reyes back in news

Abellana back in controversial soap; Avelino and Reyes aren’t confirming their split

Best therapy

All is not quite it seems with Barong Geisler. The actor is doing an international film which is being shot in Cebu, an island south of Manila.

The movie is entitled Waves and stars Geisler; along with Ilona Struzik, a Polish-American international model-actress based in New York. According to his handler, the film is keeping Geisler busy and away from trouble and his ongoing battle with alcoholism. His last project was Kidlat, a fantasy series which aired in TV5. Good luck to Geisler, who is really a great actor when he is sober.

Back to work

Another celeb who is back to work after a brief hiatus is Carla Abellana. She stars in the new primetime soap, My Husband’s Lover, on GMA7. Abellana will be paired with Dennis Trillo, while a third wheel is still up for grabs among the Kapuso Networks stable of stars.

Last we heard, Mike Tan and Victor Basa auditioned for the controversial role — as Trillo’s paramour. Abellana is excited about her new project because of the touchy subject — which she considers a challenge — never mind that it took nine months before she had another major TV project. She says she’d rather wait for the right project, and her new assignment is something she’s looking forward to do.

Separation issue

The whispers are getting louder about the alleged break up of Paulo Avelino and LJ Reyes, neither would confirm or deny the rumour. Moreno is currently in the US with her son, but denies she has left their home. She says she is just visiting her New York-based mother, something which she does on a yearly basis.

Despite the denial, sources close to both celebs admit the relationship is on the rocks, and could lead to splitsville if major differences between the two are not worked out. Allegedly, Avelino was upset that Moreno posed for a sexy magazine; while Moreno is miffed that Avelino refuses to talk about their son in public.

Budding romance

Fast rising star Eula Caballero is happy she was given her first lead role in the TV series Cassandra: Warrior Princess. But the teen star admits she is more nervous about how the public will receive her first TV starrer. And she denies there is a budding romance emerging between her and co-star, Albie Casino. The actress says she has become good friends with the young actor, but the relationship has strictly remained professional. So far.
