Shireen gets teary
Shireen cried several times during her concert at the Cairo Opera House on November 8. The pregnant singer was performing a well-known song about a mother and her son when she got emotional.

She paused many times during the performance to pull herself together before finally telling the crowd, "If this is how it is even before he arrives, I don't know what it's going to be like once he's here."

Too busy to direct
Director Ahmad Makki has apologised for not being able to direct the film Akher Kalam (Last Decision) which stars Haifa Wehbi and Ahmad Fishawi.

Makki said the decision was due to his busy schedule. Meanwhile, Haifa said she wished famous Egyptian actor Mahmoud Abdul Aziz would agree to play the role of her father in the film.

Cutting it out
Lebanese singer Faris Karam's latest video is in trouble with the censor board. The song Khityar, in which Karam has intimate scenes with a model, was banned for being too provocative and suggestive. However, music channel Rotana went ahead and aired the video.

George is well
George Wassouf, who went to the United States for medical treatment after filing an appeal against his jail sentence in Lebanon, has denied rumours that he is sick and can't walk. Wassouf clarified that he had gone only for medical tests and a check-up.

Scent of success
