Veteran Pakistani actor Sania Saeed has opened up about her personal life, confirming that she is no longer married to acclaimed director and writer Shahid Shafaat.

Speaking during a candid conversation on Frieha Altaf’s podcast FWhy, the Bandish 2 star revealed for the first time that her marriage had ended. “I was [married], but not anymore,” she said, addressing questions about her relationship status.

Saeed reflected on their long-standing bond, sharing that she and Shafaat were childhood friends who began their artistic journeys together in theatre. “He was the love of my life back then,” she said, before adding that while the kind of enduring love seen in earlier generations feels rare now, love that doesn’t ask one to compromise their self-respect or dreams is still deeply valuable.

Despite the separation, Saeed spoke warmly of their time together. “I’ve always been fortunate—I never had to compromise on anything with my ex-husband,” she noted.

Sania Saeed and Shahid Shafaat had been married since 1998. The former couple did not have children.
