Salman Khan to skip IIFA due to busy schedule for new action movie

Dubai: Fans seeking a red carpet confrontation between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh at the forthcoming International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards Weekend will have to look for thrills elsewhere.
Salman Khan will not be attending the award ceremony. He confirmed the news on Tuesday, telling reporters at the Film Division in New Delhi: "I am shooting for my next ‘Bodyguard' and it is an action movie, so yes, you people won't see me there. IIFA will miss me this time'.
Shah Rukh Khan is performing on the IIFA stage for the first time in seven years. The actor has attended two previous IIFA events in Singapore and Amsterdam.
Despite his absence, ‘Chillar Party', Salman's first production, will open the 12th IIFA awards ceremony.
It is believed that the rift between the two Khans is the reason behind Salman's non-attendance. The two actors had a spat in 2008 which divided Bollywood in to two separate support camps.
tabloid! is at the three-day IIFA award ceremony, which kicks off this Thursday in Toronto. Stay tuned for live coverage of all the action from the ground.
