Who's in it? Felicity Jones, Ed Westwick, Brooke Shields, Bill Bailey, Sophia Bush, Bill Nighy
The plot This girl-power romcom is top of our list of flicks to see for one reason: we finally get to hear dreamy Gossip Girl star, Ed Westwick, speak in his native accent (by Jeeves, he's actually a Brit!).
But that aside, it looks like just the feel-good, Gen-Y Bridget Jones-esque fix we need this week. It follows Kim Matthews (a loveable Jones), an ex-skateboarding champ who has to help her dad (Bailey, legend) pay the bills after her mother passes away.
Soon she finds herself accepting a job to be a chalet girl in the Alps for a British banker (Nighy) and his American wife (Shields). She's at first very green on the slopes, but after practice and persistence finds that her skateboarding days stand her in good stead and before we know it she's actually teaching her employers' son (Westwick) how to snowboard.
Cue class-crossing romance and plenty of ‘oops, we fell off our snowboards and onto each other' moments.
While this movie isn't going to put anything else under threat come Oscar season, it's loveable, has a good message, a strong cast - and did we mention that Chuck Bass is in it? Swoon.
