In Tamil cinema, it's more about packaging alluring colours with dances, pretty actresses and macho men than about the story or the performances. It's about dream sequences where actors, despite their social status, are transported to snow-clad Swiss mountains or Gondola-dotted Venetian canals or New York's dollar-dangling Wall Street or, better still, the quaint cobbled streets of Vienna for a song. And producers are willing to spend huge sums of money on this.

But director A Venkatesh, who shot to fame recently with his acting prowess in Angadi Theru, says his film Vaada (Come) does not comply with these guidelines. It doesn't feature any exotic locales and is shot extensively in Ooty and Kashmir. Venkatesh now has two movies back-to-back: Maanja Velu and Vaada. The latter has Sundar C and Sheryl Brindo staring in a story of revenge and retribution. Produced by Screenplay Entertainment, the movie traces Sundar's character as he makes it his mission to take revenge on the person who played spoilsport. Brindo plays an avid fan of MGR, the legendary actor, often playing the good samaritan. The film will also see actor Vivek imitating yesteryear comedian Suruli Rajan and popular actress Khushboo in a cameo.

Meanwhile, Sundar is also busy lining up more releases such as Guru Sishyan and Nagaram Marupakkam (a sequel to Thalainagaram).

Brindo, who made her debut with Vijayakanth in Arasangam, is also in demand. She has managed to bag the lead in Vijayakanth's forthcoming venture Engal Aasaa.

Currently, Venkatesh is busy with Vallakottai and Kaval Thurai. That sure is an extremely efficient factory line!
