Priyanka Chopra’s father cremated
Shah Rukh, Deepika, Parineeti Chopra, Karan Johar among the stars who attended on Monday evening
Mumbai: Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra’s father Ashok Chopra, who died on Monday, was cremated on Monday evening at Oshiwara crematorium.
Many Bollywood celebrities — including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Parineeti Chopra, Karan Johar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Punit Malhotra, Anurag Basu, Ramesh Taurani, Arjan Bajwa — attended the cremation.
The last rites of Ashok Chopra took place between 5.30pm and 6pm.
Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapoor reached Kokilaben Hospital after hearing of Ashok’s demise and were with Chopra and her family when the body was taken to her residence.
Ashok was admitted to hospital 17 days ago and had been undergoing cancer treatment since being diagnosed with liver cancer in 2005. He was at the terminal stage of the disease.
Chopra had cancelled all her shoots and was by his side for the past few days.
Ashok, a doctor, retired from the army in 1997 as a lieutenant colonel.
He is survived by his wife Madhu, also a former army doctor, daughter Priyanka and son Siddharth.
