With its release now confirmed, Empuraan will hit the UAE screen on March 27
Dubai: After months of speculation and production delays, L2: Empuraan, the highly anticipated sequel to Lucifer, is set to release in theaters on March 27, 2025 in the UAE. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and starring Mohanlal, the film reportedly faced uncertainty due to reported tensions between its original producers, Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions.
On Saturday, Prithviraj announced that Sree Gokulam Movies has joined as a co-producer alongside Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions, effectively securing the project’s progress. Industry sources had previously speculated that the slow pace of promotional activities indicated a dispute between the original production house.
Speaking to Reporter Live, Sree Gokulam Movies chairman Gokulam Gopalan confirmed his intervention, stating that he stepped in to ensure the film’s smooth release.
“It’s important to resolve such issues so that the industry doesn’t suffer. I believe the matter has now been settled,” he said.
While details regarding the financial restructuring remain unclear, Gopalan did not confirm whether his company had acquired Lyca Productions’ stake in the film.
However, his remarks suggest that Lyca has significantly reduced its involvement. “These transactions are common in large-scale productions, and financial adjustments happen through proper channels,” he noted.
With its release now confirmed, Empuraan is back on track as one of the biggest Malayalam film projects in recent years.
