Morissette Amon, whose singing style has drawn comparisons with the likes of pop diva Mariah Carey, landed in Dubai on Wednesday ahead of the Morrisette is Made concert on Friday at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The Dubai leg is the first international stop for the Morissette is Made tour. The 22-year-old singer, who is also dubbed by fans as Asia’s Phoenix, says she’s excited for her first solo concert in Dubai.
“Of course for each leg we try to make it as personal and special,” says Amon, adding that fans can expect “something new” from her. The singer also said that some of the songs have been specially arranged to fit the audience.
“We tweaked the songs a little bit for a more personal feel for our OFW (overseas Filipino workers) audience,” Amon excitedly shared with tabloid!
Amon’s special guest for the show is singer/actor Sam Concepcion.
“I know it’s going to be a good one,” Concepcion told tabloid! “I know the whole of Dubai is very excited to see her perform and I’m very excited to be part of it.”
In an earlier interview with tabloid!, Amon spoke about the health scare which nearly ended her career.
“I learnt I had nodules [in my vocal cords] when I abused my voice while doing my very first theatre production ... My family and I were afraid that I wouldn’t be able to sing [again],” she said. “I thought then that I was young, I was invincible, I can sing everything. But it was because of that I learnt to take better care of my voice.”
Amon is expected to belt out her hit songs like Ikaw Ay Ako, Akin Ka Na Lang and her latest single Panaginip. Tickets to the show, starting at Dh75, are available online.
