Showbiz Tsismis caught up with the actress-host to hear what she has in the works for 2015
Alex Gonzaga ended her year on a high note, receiving positive feedback for her performance in the movie The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin, which was the box-office winner at the recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival.
This year, the TV host and actress is optimistic that her career will soar to even greater heights, with new TV and movie projects, as well as two new books that she has written and will be published this year.
How would you assess your career in 2014?
I am very happy with how my career progressed last year. Very grateful for the blessings that came my way. I felt that I grew in all aspects of my life, not just in my professional career, so I am very thankful.
What do you consider to be the highlights of your career last year?
There were quite a lot. Aside from my hosting and acting gigs on ABS CBN, I was really happy when I managed to come out with a book. For me that was a great accomplishment, because it’s a different skill altogether. Some say I am a natural host, and I am thankful for that positive feedback. With the book, I hope people got to see a different side of me. Two more titles are coming out this year, and both will be sort of an extension of the first book, which talked about relationships, handling break-ups, and everything that has to do with a teen’s fascination with love. Of course, being a part of The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin was also a highlight. It is a record-breaking film, box-office-wise and to be a part of that achievement is humbling, exciting and fulfilling.
What can people expect from you in 2015?
I have a new show, Inday Bote, which will air soon. It is a magical comedy series, a remake of the film previously top-billed by Ms Maricel Soriano. It’s an honour to do a remake of a classic film. At the same time, it is exciting because we are adding fresh, new elements to make it more relevant to today’s times.
Which do you find more fulfilling, acting, hosting, writing?
I find them all fulfilling, because as an artist I enjoy the idea of being able to express my talent in different forms. Each one also has its own set of challenges; and every time I am able to deliver — whether it is a hosting gig, an acting assignment, or writing a book — I feel accomplished that I am able to use the talent that God has given me. I like the idea of being versatile, so I hope I get to grow as a writer, actor, and TV host. There is so much more room for improvement, and I hope this year I will make greater strides.
