Asghar Khan sees Europe through the lens of his camera.

Photographer Asghar Khan has always wanted to visit Europe.

"It is a continent rich in life and history," he says. "There is so much to see, so much to learn, so much to enjoy."

In Venice, Italy, he saw the solitary gondolier and the busy waterfront cafes. In fashion-conscious Milan, he noted a majestic church.

In Germany, he watched trees burst into green and a woman play the accordion. He drove through the lush countryside, a place where the rhythm of life is slow and peaceful.

In France, he loved Paris. "The city of lovers was unique, refreshing. Something was going on every minute and I hugely enjoyed my visit," he says.

The Left Bank — as these photographs show — impressed Khan particularly, as did the Eiffel Tower, an enduring symbol of the French capital. But he liked the French countryside just as much, especially its "picture postcard beauty".

In the Netherlands, he loved Amsterdam, the Venice of the North. He enjoyed its waterways and its architecture.

"The houses are so interesting that I couldn't resist taking pictures of the souvenir magnets," he says.

And, of course, he just had to take pictures of a woman taking a picture of a man sitting in a giant clog.
