Saba Qamar back to tele films

What’s with Saba Qamar and tele films? The award-winning actress, whose talent was duly acknowledged in Bollywood in last year’s Hindi Medium — hasn’t signed on a film on this side of the border. Besides, it’s been many months since Baaghi, the popular drama serial that was loosely based on the life of Qandeel Baloch who was killed in the name of honour by her brother.

All that Qamar made was a tele film, Dil Diyan Gallan, aired on Hum TV on Eid Al Fitr this year. It proved to be a dull affair.

And, now, Qamar is due on another tele film, Iss Dil Ki Aisi Ki Tesi, expected to be broadcast on Eid Al Adha. Again, it’s light stuff. But Qamar isn’t worried, because the project is directed by Aehsun Talish, who comes fresh off the success of Suno Chanda. It also stars singer-actor Farhan Saeed. Interestingly, Saeed was part of Talish’s Suno… also, and famously so. Let’s hope, especially for Qamar’s sake, that the project shapes up well. The audience expects a lot from her now.
