The year 2018 has begun on a happy note for the Pakistan film industry, as the first release Parchi opened to solid box office collections.

The crime comedy caper, jointly produced by Imran Kazmi and Hareem Farooq, received a mixed response from critics, many writing it off completely, but audiences didn’t seem to agree.

Funny one-liners, slapstick humour, mostly of the vaudeville kind, Farooq and Ali Rahman Khan’s crackling onscreen chemistry, and the two hit tracks — Billo Hai and Imagine, sung by Sahara UK and Mika Singh respectively — seem to have done the trick.

Parchi’s weekend collections were at par with the first week collections of Fukrey Returns. Parchim has now been released in the US also.
