Pakistan’s pioneer blues/jazz band Blue Sax have officially released their first single of 2017, Jana.
An original song, Jana stays true to the genre of blues/jazz, the rich musical arrangements of the song heavily rely on the saxophone which sets a foot-tapping rhythm and enhances the smooth vocals of Talha Ali Kushava. The lyrics have a tongue-in-cheek humour, weaving the story of a man fantasising about his wife leaving him but also not wanting her to take his wealth with her.
Speaking about the story behind the song, band founder Kushava said, “Jana is a song about the fantasy of a husband wishing his wife leaves him, but he cannot make this known of course. The song ends with him requesting her to leave his credit card behind, which is a metaphor for the man’s wealth. “Jana is our first release for 2017. We have some more new music coming out soon. We are quite excited about how the year is shaping up so far.”
