The trailer of one of the most talked about movies of the year, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2, was finally released last week. As expected, it fetched an overwhelming audience response, though some critics were less kind and said that it offers nothing different from the original which remains Pakistan’s biggest all-time grosser.
But, producer and lead actor Humayun Saeed isn’t worried. He told tabloid! that promos “can be deceiving.”
Without giving much away, he insists that the film is “totally unlike the first [in the JPNA franchise].” From the trailer, it’s obvious that Kubra Khan plays an Indian, who is in love with a Pakistani boy (Saeed). The role of her father is essayed by Kanwaljit Singh who is a noted actor across the border.
Their doomed love story is, however, only a small part of the storyline. The trailer promises many interesting plot twists and characters. Fahad Mustafa, who replaces Hamza Ali Abbasi, seems likely to emerge as the scene-stealer. His lady love, played by Mawra Hocane, also looks gorgeous. Sara Loren’s (last seen in Bollywood movie Murder 2) jaw-dropping club dance is another sure-fire hit. Shot extensively in Turkey and Dubai, the film is a high-budget bonanza, tipped for an Eid Al Adha release.
