In a world where every little, big celebrity looks like they are out to grab public attention (thank you, social media!), Farhad Humayun prefers being private. The popular vocalist and percussionist of Overload — a band that boasts a sound that is truly rooted in Punjab’s culture with dhols and all — recently released his first solo track in Urdu, titled Mur Ke Dekho.

Its video, which is directed by Humayun and stars his Russian friend Ramina Maripova, has already crossed two million views on YouTube; but you’d never find this educated musician from Lahore making any noise about it.

A danceable but melodious track, backed by Humayun’s strong vocals, Mur Ke Dekho is also written and composed by him. It is said to be a part of Humayun’s next album, Mera Naam, which he is producing in collaboration with Sarmad Ghafoor.

Riot Studios, the studio space he owns, is already a rage among the concert-crazed youth of Lahore, especially because of the Levi’s Live Sessions (LLS) that Humayun hosts. Being a project consultant on LLS, Humayun gives inputs in matters relating to the selection of bands that would perform at the sessions, and also in producing the shows.

His next project is a single that he is going to record for a leading mobile network company of Pakistan.
