Dubai: M. Mohanan’s Malayalam-language romantic comedy Oru Jaathi Jathakam is set to make its OTT debut today in India on March 14, coinciding with the release of another Malayalam film Ponman. In the UAE, the streaming details are yet to be announced.

Starring Vineeth Sreenivasan, out in India on ManoramaMax and Amazon Prime Video, follows Jayesh, a man in his late thirties, determined to find a bride in her twenties. However, his high expectations and rigid criteria leave him with dwindling options, as even matrimonial sites fail to deliver. A palm reading predicts a streak of bad luck, further complicating his search. Things take an unexpected turn when a horoscope reading suggests he is destined for a same-sex marriage, throwing his traditional beliefs into disarray.

Also featuring Nikhila Vimal, Babu Antony, P.P. Kunhikrishnan, and Mridul Nair in crucial roles, Oru Jaathi Jathakam blends humor with social commentary, subtly addressing issues of misogyny and unrealistic expectations men often place on women in the pursuit of marriage.

This film marks another collaboration between director Mohanan and actors Vineeth and Nikhila, who previously worked together in the 2018 comedy-drama Aravindante Athidhikal.
