Nostalgia gets closer and closer to real time. The National Geographic Network says it will air a mini-series this summer on the 1990s.

The project premieres this July on the cable network and follows on the heels of National Geographic’s success chronicling the 1980s last spring.

The network said some 120 people who made some mark on the 1990s have been interviewed, including Matthew Perry of Friends, actress Susan Sarandon, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and rock singer Courtney Love.

It will examine the Clinton presidency and rise of Osama Bin Laden, along with reality television and music ranging from rap to grunge.
