Los Angeles: Pop icon Beyoncé experienced a tense moment during her recent Cowboy Carter tour stop in Houston, Texas, after a technical malfunction disrupted her performance.
During her Saturday, June 28 show at NRG Stadium, Beyoncé, 43, was performing ‘16 Carriages’ while seated atop a red convertible prop suspended above the audience. Mid-performance, the vehicle began to tilt sharply in the air, prompting concern from both fans and the singer herself, People magazine reported.
A TikTok video captured the moment the car slanted mid-air, with Beyoncé — secured in a harness — holding onto one of the supporting cables. As the vehicle shifted, she calmly said into her microphone, “Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop,” as the music abruptly cut off.
While suspended, she looked around and then addressed the crowd with a smile, saying, “Thank y’all for your patience.” The car was safely lowered back to the stage, and Beyoncé returned to her seat as the lights dimmed, continuing to engage the cheering audience.
According to the Houston Chronicle, the car stalled midway through the song. After briefly exiting the stage, Beyoncé returned to complete her set. The cause of the malfunction remains unknown.
In a separate clip shared on X (formerly Twitter), Beyoncé addressed the crowd after resuming her performance, saying: “If ever I fall, I know y’all would catch me,” prompting loud applause and cheers.
Fans expressed relief online, with one commenting, “Omg she scared me... so glad she’s safe and nothing happened.”
