Egyptian folk musician Ahmed Amer dies

Dubai: Egyptian artist and folk singer Ahmed Amer, died on July 2, fellow artist Reda Elbahrawy announced. The musician was in his late 20s.

Earlier in the day the Egyptian-born musician shared a Facebook post announcing the cancellation of his shows due to a sudden health crisis. But he passed away hours after he reached the hospital, according to Al Arabiya.

Fellow folk musician Reda Elbahrawy shared the news on his Instagram, with a picture of the Amer.

“Indeed, we belong to God and to Him we shall return… An indescribable pain… My brother and friend Ahmed Amer is in God’s care now,” he captioned the post.

Amer began his career at a young age, performing at small events and gradually rising to fame through his social media platforms.
