This year’s Miss Universe Philippines edition features 69 contestants vying for the crown
Dubai: Former beauty queen Ariella Arida, who placed as 3rd Runner-Up in Miss Universe 2013, has officially stepped into a leadership role as the new National Director of Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH).
According to a report published on ABS-CBN, the announcement was made on February 15, 2025, during the organisation’s press presentation of this year’s official delegates.
“Thank you so much for trusting me. I know this is a big responsibility, but what many may not realise is that I’ve been engaged with Miss Universe Philippines from the very start. I’ve always stayed connected, supported the organisation, and followed its journey. I never imagined that five years down the line, I’d be here,” she shared.
As the pageant gears up for another competitive year, Arida called on fans and supporters to cultivate a more positive and encouraging atmosphere. “Let’s be more supportive. Let’s be more mindful. Let’s spread kindness and love—not just to our delegates, but to everyone in the organisation,” she urged.
Arida's appointment marks a shift from titleholder to mentor, with MUPH highlighting her role in shaping the next wave of Filipina beauty queens. The organisation emphasised her mission to “help shape the next generation of uniquely beautiful Filipinas.”
Her transition into this role was met with congratulations from industry figures, including Ben Chan, Janine Tugonon, Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez, Hannah Arnold, Emma Tiglao, Katrina Llegado, and Ruffa Gutierrez, all of whom shared their support on social media.
Arida follows in the footsteps of Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner-Up Shamcey Supsup-Lee, who led MUPH from its inception in 2020 until 2023, and Jonas Gaffud, who took on the position in 2024.
This year’s edition of Miss Universe Philippines features 69 contestants vying for the coveted crown. The winner will go on to represent the country at Miss Universe 2025, set to take place on November 21 at the Impact Arena in Pak Kret, Thailand.
