This is a milestone moment for Indian animation & mythological stories in Kannada films
Dubai: After shattering records at home, India’s biggest animated hit of 2025—Mahavatar Narsimha—is heading overseas.
Released on July 25 in India, the mythological spectacle has earned more than $2.7 million in just four days, making it the country’s highest-grossing animated film to date.
From July 31, the film will be released across the UK, Australia, Europe, Singapore and Malaysia, bringing one of Lord Vishnu’s most iconic stories to an international audience. In the UAE, the movie will release a week later on August 7.
Directed by Ashwin Kumar, the film reimagines the legend of Narsimha, the fierce half-man, half-lion incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who appears during the Satya Yuga to defeat the tyrannical demon king Hiranyakashyap. When the king’s own son, Prahlad, turns to Vishnu for protection, the stage is set for divine intervention and an epic showdown.
Produced by Kleem Productions’ Shilpaa Dhawan, Kushal Desai and Chaitanya Desai, the film features a score by Sam CS, praised for its immersive soundscape.
Hombale Films—best known for KGF Chapter 2 and Kantara—has confirmed that Mahavatar Narsimha is just the opening chapter in a seven-part animated cinematic universe based on Vishnu’s avatars. Upcoming installments will include:
Mahavatar Parshuram (2027)
Mahavatar Raghunandan (2029)
Mahavatar Dwarkadhish (2031)
Mahavatar Gokulananda (2033)
Mahavatar Kalki – Part 1 (2035) & Part 2 (2037)
With its soaring box-office numbers and global release, Mahavatar Narsimha marks a milestone moment for Indian animation and mythological storytelling on the world stage.
