The last Rebellious hope of winning the fight against the empire rested on a skinny young man of good instincts who had minimum martial training, no awareness of his Jedi origins and was also extremely vulnerable. His name was Luke Skywalker, the son of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala.

Great histories frequently have a notable hero who inspires the oppressed. Almost always this personality has evident weaknesses and hidden strengths. Luke Skywalker is no different.

Luke was born in the asteroid colony of Polis Massa. After the death of his mother and the imposition of the Galactic Empire, Obi-Wan Kenobi had the brilliant idea of hiding Luke from his father. Obi-Wan decided to send him to Tatooine where he grew up in the care of his uncle Owen Lars and his wife Beru.

Since Master Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi considered the Jedi needed to change and experience emotions, Luke grew up in Tatooine like a normal boy, without being trained right as a baby.

Obi-Wan Kenobi told Luke of his origins at the right moment and urged him to join the Rebel Alliance. At first Luke doubted the story, but after suffering the loss of his uncle (who died at an imperial attack), he decided to join The Force.

Luke became the Rebellious hope that would finally manage to dominate the Galactic Empire.

One of Luke's most shining moments was when, listening to the Force and the spirit of his mentor Ben Kenobi, he managed to destroy the first Death Star and give Rebels a victory. Another emotional moment saw him realise that Darth Vader, his enemy, was his real father.

The expanded universe narrates how Luke finally closes the soldier's chapter of his life and establishes the New Jedi Order that serves as guardians and peacekeepers in the New Republic.
