Debutant director Dibakar Banerjee and writer Jaideep Sahni have captured the essence of the Delhi middle-class life in a realistic and entertaining manner and this is where Khosla Ka Ghosla scores. It may not have big stars, but as it is packed with satirical humour, you can easily identify with the characters.

Kamal Kishore Khosla (Anupam Kher) is a retired, middle-class man who has invested his savings in a plot of land. He wants his son Cherry (Pravin Dabas) to build his dream house, but Cherry wants to go to America. Khosla's dreams are then shattered when his land is taken over by Kishan Khurana (Boman Irani). When all polite and influential methods fail, Cherry, seeing his father's plight, has a change of heart and decides to help his dad retrieve the land. Cherry's girlfriend Meghna (Tara Sharma) and her drama gang headed by Bapu (Navin Nischol), help the Khoslas in their mission.

Just like Lage Raho Munnabhai, this film subtly depicts human values and strikes a chord in some way or the other, but the pace of the narrative leaves a lot to be desired.

Banerjee has done a wonderful job by portraying his characters in a realistic manner. Kher is fabulous when depicting Khosla's control freak nature and subdued emotions. This is what Kher is best at and he should avoid playing stupid comical characters.

Irani is impressive once again, but unfortunately has a limited role. Dabas is fine. Sharma looks pleasant, but somebody needs to dub her piercing voice. Shorey, Shukla and Nischol are effective and hilarious. Sahni's story and dialogues are praiseworthy.

Critic's note: You can watch it with your family.
