What does a dream-casting look like? Well, for a certain number of K-Drama fans, there’s an answer.

Netflix has officially announced its upcoming historical drama Scandals (working title), featuring an all-star cast led by Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and Nana.

Inspired by the 2003 Korean film Untold Scandal, Scandals is set in the Joseon Dynasty, an era when love was a dangerous indulgence. The drama follows a web of intrigue and power as its characters engage in a high-stakes game of love and deception, challenging the rigid moral codes of their time. Ye-jin takes on the role of Lady Cho, a woman of intelligence and charm who dares to defy societal norms, according to Soompi. She enlists Cho Won, her confident and charismatic admirer, to execute a bold romantic challenge.

Ji Chang-wook plays Cho Won, a man known for his effortless charm and playful affairs, yet he remains unconvinced by the notion of true love. As he accepts Lady Cho’s wager, he becomes embroiled in a game that could cost him more than he anticipates. Nana portrays Hui Yeon, a widow bound by societal expectations, drawn to Cho Won. Torn between restraint and desire, her character navigates an emotional struggle that adds depth to the unfolding drama.

With its gripping premise and powerhouse cast, Scandals promises to be a captivating tale of love, ambition, and defiance in an era where passion was both perilous and forbidden.

Fans are excited, with many expressing how they have been eagerly waiting for such a team. “The chemistry will be off the charts,” one wrote. Another added, “Son Ye-jin playing a conniving character, I am ready!” “That’s a crazy line-up,” a fan wrote.
