Get ready for an October full of south Asian music, from traditional ghazals, sufi and popular Bollywood numbers.

On October 3, Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali performs at Crowne Plaza on Shaikh Zayed Road. Joining him that night is ghazal singer Jaswinder Singh. For tickets, priced Dh125-Dh1,000, call 050-6549100.

The next day, it’s the turn of singers KK and Shalmali Kolghade of Daaru Desi fame to perform at Safina Ballroom in Jumeirah Beach Hotel in an evening titled MTV India Live Unplugged.

KK, 45, has sung over 500 Hindi songs and has dozens of songs to his credit including Party On My Mind from Race 2 and Yaaron from his award winning album Pal.

Kolghade is relatively new in the industry but has enough hits to make this concert lively. Watch out for her rendition of Balam Pichkari from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Mein Pareshaan from Ishaaqzaade.

The same night, India’s top singers Kailash Kher and Richa Sharma will unite with Pakistani classical singer Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan for a concert entitled Jash E Eid at Shaikh Rashid Hall at Dubai World Trade Centre.

Jash E Eid will be the first-of-its-kind musical concert in the UAE, which will amalgamate three distinctly different genres — pop, Bollywood, Sufi and rock on stage. While Kher will belt out hits including Allah Ke Bande, from Arsad Warsi-starrer Waisa Bhi Hota and Tu Jane Na, from Bollywood film Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahaani, Sharma will entertain with popular tracks such as Sajda, from the film My Name Is Khan, and Lazy Ladai, from Ghanchakkar.
