Her album chronicling a bad break-up won her millions of fans — not to mention six Grammys. But Adele appears determined to make her current relationship work.
The 23-year-old has revealed plans to take "four or five years" off to focus on her romance with Simon Konecki, 37.
"If I am constantly working, my relationships fail," the singer told American Vogue. "So at least now I can have enough time to write a happy record."
A beaming Adele made her first major public appearance with Konecki at the Grammys on Sunday night. The awards ceremony also featured her comeback performance after throat surgery to repair her vocal cords.
Praising Konecki, a divorced father of one, she said: "He's wonderful. And he's proud of me, but he [doesn't] care about what I do or what other people think. He looks after me. I don't think I would have gotten through the recovery for my surgery if it hadn't been for him."
The singer admitted that her throat problem left her feeling depressed — but warned fans of her melancholy album 21 that she wanted to write more positive material in the future.
"I am never writing a break-up record again," she promised. "I'm done with being a bitter witch."
In another interview for the US TV programme 60 Minutes, she stressed: "I'm madly in love and I don't want to be like, ‘Babe, I'm sorry, we've got to break up. I've got a new album to deliver.'"
